Need help troubleshooting treadmill!!!?

I have an Image 15.5S treadmill. It worked fine for months after we bought it and then one day I was walking on it and it just stopped. The console part still works and even the incline works, the belt just won’t go. I can push it with my feet and make it go, but it won’t go on its own. It has been a year or so and we are still having the same problem. I don’t think there is a warranty on it anymore and I would really rather my husband fix it instead of paying someone.
the motor doesn’t run. the belt will act like it is going to move, but it just jerks a little and then all is quiet.

Does the belt drive motor still run? If it does and the belt does not move, I would suspect that the idle roller bearings are frozen with dirt or possibly hair from some source. This is quite a common problem with all motor drives to a belt system. Vac cleaners will seize those bearings and break the drive belt. The same thing can happen to any machine down near the floor. The dust will get pulled in to the bearings and the motor will try to turn the idle wheel but it is stuck. Can’t be sure this is the problem, but it is a place to start.
